Google has unveiled AndroidTM 9 Pie*, meaning every XperiaTM owner will be wondering: when can I get my hands on it?
The good news is: you won’t have to wait too long to get the brand-new version of Android on your Xperia device**.
Our Premium-range models are expected to have the upgrade available from November, meaning owners of the Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium, XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact will be among the first to get their hands on the new tech.
Owners of XA2, XA2 Ultra and XA2 Plus devices can expect to access the upgrade early 2019.
We always aim for the quickest possible upgrade rollout from the time Google makes its announcement to when it reaches your smartphone. And it’s essential that Sony engineers have the time to implement all our feature upgrades and test devices to meet our high quality standards.
Here’s a helpful infographic to remind you how a new Android rollout works, and its journey from Google to Sony Mobile and ultimately to the Xperia in your hand:
*Android is a trademark of Google Inc.
**Software rollouts are a phased process – timing and availability will vary by market and/or operator. Most models supported but some operator/market exceptions will apply.
