A star-studded guestlist including Emily Atack, Frankie Bridge and Dermot O’Leary celebrated the 18th year of the EE Rising Star Award at JOIA, London
London, Friday 3rd February 2023: Last night, stars from across the Arts came together to celebrate the 2023 EE Rising Star Award nominees at the Vanity Fair EE Rising Star Party. The star-studded event was the first to take place at up-and-coming London hotspot, JOIA, where guests celebrated the awards season across three floors overlooking the iconic Battersea Power Station.
Stars in attendance included four of this year’s EE Rising Star nominees Naomi Ackie, Sheila Atim, Emma Mackey and Daryl McCormack, as well as Emily Atack, Frankie Bridge, Dermot O’Leary, AJ Odudu, Nicola Roberts, Oliver Proudlock and Emma Louise Connolly.
Laura Whitmore, Wallis Day, Dynamo and Bugzy Malone were spotted rubbing shoulders with 2021 EE Rising Star nominee Sope Dirisu. Meanwhile, Ashley Roberts hit the dancefloor with Ella Eyre.
Guests were even surprised with an exclusive set from Singer-Songwriter, Zak Abel, who impressed party-goers with performances of his hit songs Beautiful Escape, Freedom and Be Kind, as well as new single What Love Is.
The EE Rising Star Award recognises emerging actors who have demonstrated exceptional talent and have captured the imagination of both the public and film industry alike. This year’s nominees are Naomi Ackie (Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody), Sheila Atim (The Woman King), Aimee Lou Wood (Living), Emma Mackey (Emily) and Daryl McCormack (Good Luck To You, Leo Grande). As the only award voted for by the British public, film fans are encouraged to cast their vote, with the winner being announced at the EE BAFTA Film Awards on Sunday 19th February 2023. Voting is live at ee.co.uk/BAFTA.
Throughout the evening, guests danced to DJ sets from Woody Cook, The Amazonica and Arielle Free while sipping on drinks created in partnership with BAFTA’s Official Partners Champagne Taittinger, Villa Maria, Woodford Reserve, in addition to CîROC and Casamigos.
The team at JOIA, the first London restaurant by award-winning two Michelin-starred Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, also created bespoke cocktails in honour of each 2023 EE Rising Star nominee, including:
· Naomi’s Paloma: Casamigo Blanco, Grapefruit Soda, Lime

Since Addison Lee introduced the fully electric VW ID4 into its fleet in December 2021, it has driven 6 million EV miles in the capital and removed 2million kg of emissions from London’s air.
