Teleprotection, one of the most critical electric grid applications, requires a reliable communications network to perform consistently and reliably. With advanced traffic queuing and a clever QoS mechanism called Asymmetrical Delay Control (ADC), Nokia’s IP/MPLS network solution can meet delay, jitter and delay symmetry constantly to support teleprotection in general, differential protection in particular. It has also been independently validated by the Energy and Environment research group at the University of Strathclyde in the UK.
