When is the May bank holiday?
May Day – known officially as the Early May Day bank holiday, happens on the first Monday of May every year, marking the beginning of summer. This year it falls on the 7th May, so if you’re lucky enough to get bank holidays off, your next long weekend is on its way!

If you’re on a staycation and have children to entertain but are struggling for ideas, then check out the Hoop app. You can use it to easily find and book fun stuff for kids aged 0-11 years old. From soft play to drama workshops, just take your pick.
National Trust
If you’re staying in the UK, the National Trust app gives you info on 585 of the must-see places in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. They include historic houses, monuments and if you’ve got a faithful 4-legged companion, there’s even info on dog-friendly cottages and cafes. You can use the app to check opening times, prices and directions. You can also check for any special events that might be on while you’re visiting.
REVL: What’s on and events UK
REVL the self-proclaimed social life oracle, has the largest listing of events in the UK. From food pop-ups and gigs to family and kids’ events. There’s something for everyone. You can search for things to do by activity or location. If you tap the heart, you can save your favourite events, artists or venues and the app will let you know what’s on at the places you love or when your favourite artist is playing.
Eventbrite
Eventbrite helps you to find popular local events like concerts, classes, free events and more. It’s quick and easy to get tickets and you can access all of your Eventbrite tickets and event info all in one place. What could be better than that?
