Nokia’s Emerging 5G Technology: Enhancing Global Opportunities in South Australia

Nokia is at the forefront of developing enhanced capabilities for enterprises around the world. The National 5G Industrial Incubation Lab (N5ILL) will act as the first stepping-stone for major economic development in the region, improving the economy and enhancing the quality of life for South Australians.

Adelaide Airport’s user case will focus on the adoption of 5G and AR/VR for remote inspection and safety monitoring, using real-time, high-quality and interference free video streaming to assist in assessing and diagnosing problems in a timely manner, alleviating multiple trips between Adelaide Airport and Parafield Airport.

The timely identification and resolution of issues enables the airport to rapidly return to normal operations.

SAPN’s user case is to analyze 5G and edge processing to assess assets, using images taken by a drone (or robot) and ‘fast data transfer’ to an edge compute device. This will enable SAPN in rapidly building an image inventory of existing assets and running analytics away from the drone/robot in near real time.

The innovation also extends to the broader general public through the use of real-time surveillance on Adelaide’s train system, ensuring the safety of workers and the general public is upheld at all times.

Nokia is proud to work with the South Australian Government to enhance the innovation and technology capabilities providing world-class 5G solutions and facilities to grow industries across the state.
