Friday 21st September 2018: EE is marking the launch of the iPhone XS, with a new brand campaign starring Kevin Bacon and Inbetweeners star, Simon Bird. The campaign launches on the same day as the UK release of the iPhone XS (Friday 21st September 2018) and highlights that EE customers can get the most out of the latest smartphones with the UK’s number one network.
The advert opens with Bird’s familiar bespectacled eyes peeping through a gap in the venetian blind. Outraged, he spies his neighbourhood rival receiving the new iPhone XS with a smug grin. Taking a break from curtain twitching, Bird vents his frustration to Kevin Bacon over breakfast.
The smartphone spat continues with Bird preparing to retaliate by throwing a box of eggs at his opposition. Before things escalate further, Kevin Bacon pauses from taking a bite of his bacon sarnie to step in, reminding Bird that he can go one better by getting the new iPhone on EE, the UK’s number one network for five years in a row. The ad concludes with Bird sparking fury by gleefully parading his new iPhone XS on EE in front of his neighbour, winning the day safe in the knowledge that he’ll get faster 4G speeds in more places on EE than any other network.

It’s also digitally integrated on social, running across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and other online display partners – with edits and content developed specifically for a range of digital and social channels.
The iPhone campaign kicks off with a 30-second TV ad that will launch on 21st September during Coronation Street, Jonathan Ross Show and X-Factor Auditions on Saturday. The campaign was developed by EE’s advertising agency, Saatchi & Saatchi London. EE’s media buying agency, Essence, has led the multi-million-pound investment in placement.
