Fortnite Battle Royale isn’t just the smash hit game of 2018, it’s become a social and cultural sensation. What’s more, it’s now playable on all AndroidTM* devices.
As all Xperia owners know, Sony smartphones are the best way to fully immerse yourself in the best mobile games that developers have to offer.
Take the all new XZ3, which offers the ultimate set of gaming features. With a class-leading OLED display, S-Force Front Surround speakers and a Dynamic Vibration System, there really is no better device to play Fortnite on!
So how exactly do you get Fortnite on your Xperia device?
Where most apps are available from the Google Play store, Fortnite requires a direct download from the Epic Games website. However, this doesn’t take too long. Simply follow our step-by-step guide below to get up and running!
Firstly, as Fortnite requires certain specs to run, you need to check your device is one of the following before continuing:
- Xperia XZ/Xperia XZ Premium
- Xperia XZS
- Xperia XZ1/Xperia XZ1 Compact
- Xperia XZ2/Xperia XZ2 Premium/Xperia XZ2 Compact
- Xperia XZ3
Now, head to www.fortnite.com/Android on your Xperia or scan the QR code below
Again, it is important to note that this is not an app you can download from the Google Play Store, or anywhere other than the official Epic website above. Downloading files claiming to be Fortnite from anywhere else can be harmful to your device.
If you see the screen below, you are in the right place
From here, click Get Started and then Download, which will save an APK file to your phone – this is the installer.
You may see the following warning:
For this installation, you should click OK, however you should always be careful when you see similar warnings from other sources.
You will need to give your browser access to your photos, media and files on your device. Click allow to continue.
Once the APK has downloaded, hit open on the bar at the bottom. If you can’t see this, open the tray by sliding down from the top of the screen or go to your Files folder. You will see the Fortnite installer APK, which you can click on, then install.
By default, Android doesn’t let you install apps from unapproved sources, so you will get a warning as shown below, asking you to update some settings on your device.
To make an exception for Fortnite, click the settings button which will open an install unknown apps page, where you should toggle allow from this source.
You can then press back to the installer, where you can tap install and the process will begin.
Once this process has finished, you can go ahead and tap open, then install which will start downloading the game content to your device.
Once this is complete, you should see the following screen, where you can either sign up for a Fortnite account, or sign in using your existing details.
If you’re looking for alternatives to Apkpure, here are some similar websites that you can check out on technoroll.
Happy gaming!
Please note – some steps may vary depending on the device you are using and your personal settings.
