EE, the UK’s number one mobile network and part of BT Group, will bring the new Huawei Mate X and 5G CPE Pro to UK consumers this year.

The Huawei Mate X combines 5G, a foldable screen, AI and an all-new mode of interfacing to provide consumers with an unprecedented user experience. A 2-in-1 smartphone and tablet, the Mate X features a flexible OLED panel and a Falcon Wing Mechanical Hinge that blends style with technology. The device also comes equipped with the world’s first 7nm 5G multi-mode modem chipset Balong 5000, and a high-capacity 4,500mAh battery. When paired with EE’s 5G network, it will allow users to make the most from the latest content whether that’s online gaming or watching 4K content on the go.

EE will also range the Huawei 5G CPE Pro, a 5G home router that will allow EE to offer UK consumers the best connectivity options for the home.

EE is switching on 5G sites in 16 UK cities in 2019. The first launch cities will be the UK’s four capital cities – London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast – and Birmingham and Manchester. EE’s 5G launch will cover the busiest parts of cities, including London’s Hyde Park, Manchester Airport, Edinburgh Waverley train station, Belfast City Airport, The Welsh Assembly and Birmingham’s Bullring shopping Centre.

As well as the six launch cities, through 2019 EE will also be introducing 5G across the busiest parts of ten more UK cities: Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Hull, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry and Bristol.
