EE has partnered with Jamie Laing to help prepare him for a gruelling SAS-inspired fitness challenge using the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4G, exclusive to EE and pro-trainer, Ollie Ollerton.

Ollie put Jamie through his paces with an intense program of strength and endurance training. The training culminated in a 30-minute assault course challenge, consisting of:

  • 500-metre row
  • 20 x tyre flips
  • 20 x burpee pull-ups
  • 5 x tyre pulls
  • 30-metre commando crawl
  • 1-kilometre forest run
  • 100-metre weighted hill climb
  • And a dramatic finale – traversing over water – which unbeknownst to Jamie – featured an explosive surprise!

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4G – the first Android compatible 4G enabled smartwatch available in the UK, is available exclusively on the EE network. Thanks to EE’s 4G network, which is available in more places than any other, EE customers can send and receive messages, make calls, stream their music and track their fitness routine when out and about, allowing them to leave their smartphone at home.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4G watch acted as Jamie’s ultimate training companion throughout his journey, particularly its unique Fitness Coach feature which helped him prepare for the challenge when he wasn’t training with Ollie.

The Samsung Health app enabled Jamie to see his health and fitness details and the watch also provides tracking for 39 different sports and activities, which allowed Jamie to monitor his progress throughout the regime. What’s more, Jamie streamed music from the watch whilst he trained, as well as was able to receive calls from Ollie – all whilst leaving his smartphone at home.

Jamie Laing said: “When I turned up to my first training session organised by EE and Ollie, I almost turned around after seeing what they had planned in the freezing cold. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4G really did help me to get match-fit – and despite Ollie’s best endeavours to get me to fall in the lake while on the rope crossing – thankfully I made it across in one piece. Good thing the watch is waterproof…!”

Ollie Ollerton added: “The look on Jamie’s face when he realised what EE and I had in store for him was absolutely priceless! I’m so proud of him for making it over the finish line, it wasn’t an easy task. The challenge really did see him put the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4G which is exclusive to EE, to good use – not least because I constantly used it to check Jamie’s heartrate and push him even harder!”

Sharon Meadows, Director of Devices, Products & Partnerships at EE, said:After what was undoubtedly an indulgent Christmas break, we wanted to challenge Jamie to elevate his fitness and complete a gruelling SAS-inspired challenge, using the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4G to help him train and prepare him for the end goal. The watch has some amazing features and is powered by EE’s 4G network, which is available in more places than any other – making it perfect for fitness enthusiasts who want to train and keep connected without the need to carry their smartphone with them wherever they go”.
