EE today announced it’s set to expand the UK security market through strategic partnerships and new customer packages developed in conjunction with leading experts Verisure and Norton. The collaborations form part of EE’s journey to become the most personal customer-focussed technology brand in the UK, highlighting its commitment to introduce new products and services beyond connectivity.

Smart Home Security

EE’s expansion in smart home security comes as research reveals that over 12.7 million UK consumers plan to take up a smart home security product in the future. Of those, a majority (56%) revealed that being able to access the latest home security technology via monthly payments would make it more appealing to them. Meanwhile, almost half (49%) of those surveyed claim that being able to buy through someone they already subscribe to and having a professional installation would make the prospect of taking out home security more appealing.

The launch comes via a partnership with Europe’s leading home security experts, Verisure. The two organisations will collaborate to evolve the smart home security market for customers over the next few years under a new service name called EE Smart Home Security, powered by Verisure

In its first phase, EE Smart Home Security, powered by Verisure will offer a new 24/7 monitored home alarm package. Launching today, EE Smart Home Security, powered by Verisure will make the benefits of a monitored home security service as accessible as possible to more homes in the UK. Available to purchase via EE’s web site, the service consists of one clear monthly payment and a minimal upfront cost.

The service is installed by Verisure security engineers and monitored 24/7 by Verisure’s Alarm Receiving Centre, allowing customers to speak to the Alarm Centre at any time through the SOS feature, and unlike self-monitored solutions, the system comes with professional monitoring – with a target response time of just 60 seconds.

The smart home security service is also backed up by EE, the UK’s most reliable mobile network, so customers will have complete peace of mind, and they can monitor their home and proactively protect it from anywhere, through the My Verisure app.

EE Smart Home Security, powered by Verisure is available in two core packages – one for flats and one for houses, with those choosing houses also able to benefit from add-ons, including the latest security cameras from smart home security specialists, Arlo Europe, part of Verisure.

Cyber Security

As part of the BT Group, EE customers benefit from BT’s existing team of over 3,000 security specialists helping to keep its network and customers safe from cyber-attacks, as well as the latest network security to help keep them and their family safe online. However, the threat to online security continues, with 41% of UK consumers acknowledging that they find it difficult to safe online, and 80% worried specifically about their identity being stolen and used.

To provide customers with premium online protection, EE has partnered with Norton, a global leader in consumer Cyber Safety, to help people protect their devices and safeguard their digital identities. The partnership will see EE offering customers an advanced online security solution to help protect their identity and devices in one solution, wherever they are.

EE will launch Cyber Security Powered by Norton™ built with advanced online security to offer customers greater peace of mind. Available initially exclusively to EE mobile customers at launch in November 2022, EE Cyber Security Powered by Norton™ service provides powerful protection against viruses and other online threats, plus it notifies customers if their personal information is found on the dark web, or if their account on popular social media sites has unusual login activity. Users can also create and store strong passwords more securely to help protect online accounts and keep personal information safer.

To help our customers understand if their identity has any risks, EE will also launch a free, annual online check through the EE website, giving customers an easy and fast way to find out if their email address have been exposed on the dark web. Full details of the EE Cyber Security Powered by Norton™packages and features will be announced in the coming weeks.

Marc Allera, CEO at EE said: “Launching EE security is the latest example of how we’re transforming the EE brand, by introducing new ways to provide our customers with exciting products and services that enhance both their in-and-out of home experience. We know that the security market is hugely important to UK consumers and see huge scope to help customers protect their home and digital life. In addition to partnering with these leaders in the security space, we will also separately look to explore how connectivity can play a part in the very latest innovations, from smart drone protection and wi-fi sensing, to smart security robotics, AI and whatever else the future holds for smart security.”

Austin Lally, CEO at Verisure said: “As the no.1 in Europe for home security solutions, we are committed to protecting what matters most to people. We believe this partnership is a great complement to our core range of monitored home security solutions, offering even more choice to customers. It is a great opportunity to combine our best-in-class security technology and services with EE’s best mobile connectivity, great brand, and personal and local customer service to give more people access to our unique peace of mind services and transform the home security market in the UK.”

Travis Witteveen, Head of Customer Acquisitions and Partnerships at NortonLifeLock said: “We are fiercely dedicated to protecting and empowering people to live their digital lives safely.  We look forward to our upcoming launch of EE Cyber Security Powered by Norton, in collaboration with EE, to help bring powerful protection to consumers in the UK.”

These Security partnerships are the first of a new wave of agreements that will see customers offered new and exciting services beyond connectivity, with further announcements due to be made in due course
