In today’s world, there’s a special day for almost everything, from the whimsical National Cheesecake Day through to the more meaningful International Friendship Day, and we think that’s a great thing. Who doesn’t love a reason to celebrate? If you’re looking for an excuse to go to a fancy restaurant or you’re just looking to spend some more time with your family, Saturday 5 August might be just the occasion you’re looking for with National Sister Day.
In honour of all the great sisters in the world, we took the time to pick some of our favourite famous families, with super sisters.
Elsa & Anna of Arendelle.
Okay, so these two aren’t technically real sisters, what with them being fictional. However, Elsa & Anna are iconic, and can’t be ignored. As part of the Frozen phenomenon, Anna & Elsa show that sisters have always got each other’s backs, even when one of them is completely out of control. You might not be fighting your sister with a giant conjured up snow beast, but you’ve probably wanted to.
If only Anna had been able to use Go Binge to calm Elsa down with some soothing music on her phone…
Beyonce & Solange Knowles.
Beyonce is arguably the biggest female superstar of the 21st Century, but she’s not the only talent in the Knowles family. Baby sister Solange found success of her own in the world of Motown and R&B, demonstrating that the Knowles sisters didn’t come to play games. Showing that there can be more than one successful sibling, the two even work together on certain shows, like Coachella. Now that’s real love!
Chances are, they’ll be wanting to catch up with one another on Sisters Day; if they were on Three, they’d have no trouble reaching each other for no extra cost, even when they’re both in different continents, all thanks to Go Roam. Fancy it, Ms. Knowles?
The Brontё sisters.
Charlotte, Emily & Anne Brontё were the original bad girls of the literature world. Well known to the world by their true names now, back in the 1800s the trio made what would later be a huge step for feminism when told that writing “was not a profession for ladies”. Publishing their poetry and literature under male pseudonyms and profiting in the background, the girls found fame. You go girls, don’t let the patriarchy keep you down! Known best for Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and Agnes Grey respectively, the Brontёs were holding up the bonds of sisterhood way back in the day. The best part is, as a Three customer you can refer your own sister (or even just a friend) to our network, and you’ll both get a £25 Amazon Gift Card, which you could use to check out some of the Brontёs’ famous works!
Katniss & Primrose Everdeen.
How could we possibly forget about the sacrifices both Katniss and Prim Everdeen make for one another throughout Suzanne Collins’ trilogy The Hunger Games. Demonstrating that sisterhood really is ride or die, and that there will always be someone to fight for you, no matter how dark your situation, Katniss and Prim represent so many sisters out there! Yes, she might have stolen your favourite top and spilled Diet Coke down it, but she will also always have your back, no matter how much of her lipstick you steal. And with Wuntu, you can find ways to reward your sister for being a true star, without volunteering as tribute and without breaking your bank account.
