In its latest bid to create more connections up and down the country, Virgin Media O2 is launching a £10 Railcard reward (a saving of £20), available exclusively to Priority members, to help Brits see loved ones more often – for less.

Whether it’s booking a train home to catch up with those we miss the most, or a weekend getaway to the countryside with friends – most Brits (79%) said they would travel more frequently if they could do it for less, in a new poll by Virgin Media O2[1]. By reducing the cost of a Railcard with its latest reward, Priority wants its members to see more of the UK and those they love.

Despite nearly half (39%) of people polled travelling at least once a week by rail, 67% admitted to not owning a Railcard.

Eligible Brits are missing out on huge savings on their train travel. Priority wants to put money back in customers’ pockets so that they can spend it on what matters most to them, saving money year-round with a new Railcard.

Survey users said they would enjoy the extra £20 saved by claiming this new Priority Railcard discount on the following:

  • Shopping at the destination (38%)
  • Extending their stay (32%)
  • Spending more on sightseeing (21%)
  • Upgrading their travel to first class (19%)

The new reward from Virgin Media O2 means that as of today (21 October) until 9 November, Priority members can purchase a Railcard for only £10 (usually £30).

A Railcard can provide users with 1/3 off most train ticket prices allowing card holders to save on average £156 annually, on top of the £20 discount saved via the Priority reward.

Lisa Johnstone, Director, Priority, Loyalty & Reward at Virgin Media O2, said: “Priority is focused on helping our Virgin Media O2 customers get the most out of life while saving money where it matters the most. That’s why we’re thrilled to offer our Priority members a Railcard for just £10, saving up to 1/3 on train travel for the next 12 months. This exclusive reward will ease the cost of travel, giving our members access to meaningful experiences and the chance to share more special moments with loves ones.”

The £10 Railcard is available for the following six card types: Network, 16-25, Disabled Persons, Family & Friends, Senior and Two Together Railcard. Read more information about the Railcard categories here.

Discount codes to acquire a £10 Railcard will be released daily over the reward live period via the Priority app and website.
