The Casting of Frank Stone will be released for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC on September 3, marking the first major expansion of the Dead by Daylight universe. Partnering with the acclaimed Supermassive Games, the teams created an original cinematic single-player narrative experience packed with new features for players to uncover.
In this story of cosmic proportions, the shadow of Frank Stone looms over Cedar Hills, a town forever altered by his violent past. As a group of young friends are about to discover, Stone’s blood-soaked legacy cuts deep, leaving scars across families, generations, and the very fabric of reality itself.
Cutting Room Floor
Step into the director’s chair with the Cutting Room Floor, a feature that grants players more control over the final cut of their story. With 16 available final sequences and 185 possible branches, there’s no shortage of content to experience – and dark fates to endure.
The Cutting Room Floor offers a branching map that unlocks as the game progresses, giving players the ability to revisit key decision points or chase down any missing collectibles. It also allows the players to alter a decision or relive a favorite moment without having to start a new game.
The Deluxe Edition provides instant access to the Cutting Room Floor, and Standard Edition players can unlock it by completing their first playthrough.
Twitch Integration
It’s always fun to experience a horror story in a group, sharing a scare with friends or debating the merits (or lack thereof) of a particular decision. The Casting of Frank Stone introduces new Twitch Integration, which allows viewers to see every choice in the game, directly overlaid into a stream. For Twitch partners, this will happen via Polls, and for non-partners it will use chat. Viewers can actively vote on a streamer’s choice, with the majority deciding the character’s next actions.
That’s not to say they have full control over the outcome – the streamer will have access to a limited number of “vetoes,” which can override viewer voting.
Plunderer’s Instinct
When activated, Plunderer’s Instinct highlights the aura of nearby collectibles – namely Trinket Chests that contain molded metal keepsakes – which can then be gathered and displayed in Collector’s Cases. It’s a completionist’s dream.
Anyone who pre-orders the Deluxe or Standard Edition will instantly unlock the Plunderer’s Instinct feature. Note that this feature will be unlocked for all players after their first playthrough, but immediate access is a pre-order bonus.
8mm Camera
Cinema and the art of filmmaking are embedded in The Casting of Frank Stone, and nowhere is that more evident than the inclusion of the 8MM Camera.
After a broken camera threatens to derail their entire shoot, the young filmmakers buy a replacement at a local curiosity shop. They soon realize that the lens can bring the supernatural into focus. This terrifying concept is realized in-game with the 8mm camera. As players are pursued by an invisible eldritch presence, the camera will crackle, inviting players to peer into the viewfinder for a glimpse – if they’re brave enough.
Couch Co-Op
Couch Co-op is back in The Casting of Frank Stone, offering a classic shared horror experience. Gather round with 2-4 friends and pass the controller back and forth as the character perspective changes throughout the game. Ever wonder if you and your buddies would survive a horror movie?
