The National Centre for Computer Animation at Bournemouth University is the leading school for education and research in Computer Animation and Visual Effects in the UK and one of the top 5 worldwide. It covers topics in computer animation, art and design, virtual and augmented reality, and visual effects in the undergraduate programs. The school was presented with the Queen’s Anniversary Award in 2011 for “World-class computer animation teaching with wide scientific and creative applications” and its contribution to world-leading excellence and pioneering development in the teaching of computer animation.
The school has installed the ProArt PA32UCG 4K HDR monitor for both visual effects teaching and for color matching purposes. The monitor is handy for teaching as it delivers true color representation for the whole color gamut so students can see the details of the changing luminance in the dark details, and the difference between Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020.
“There’s no point shooting footage on a really expensive camera with an expensive DOP and good quality lenses if you can’t actually see the quality of the image on your monitor. So the great thing about the ASUS ProArt is the multiple HDR formats.” – Harvey Goodall, Head of Compositing
