There is no doubt that the global economy is transitioning into a digital economy, and if enterprises fail to transform, they risk losing to nimble digital competitors that are increasingly disrupting traditional industries.

This new digital economy requires technological capabilities unimaginable a few years ago and this has given rise to Cloud 2.0 which integrates machine-learning analytics to deliver new levels of agility, speed and insights for enterprises.
In the Cloud 2.0 era, enterprises are moving towards vertically-focused Industry Clouds that accommodate the specific business, operational, regulatory, security and other requirements of different industries such as financial services, manufacturing, energy, public safety and transportation.
Adoption of these Industry Clouds is growing rapidly as enterprises discover the efficiency, cost and productivity benefits of using a cloud designed specifically towards their own industry’s operations.
Furthermore, the core functionality of these Industry Clouds makes them an ideal platform to deploy Internet of Things (IoT) applications, which allows companies to extract rich, deep, real-time insights from massive amounts of data specific to their vertical industry.
Millions of sensors embedded in objects connected to Industry Cloud networks create insights that drive bottom line benefits by pinpointing new sources of revenue, as well as improve the safety, efficiency and productivity of all enterprise operations.
Cloud 2.0 Depends on Cloud-Pipe-Device Integration
However, no single technology can power the transformation to Cloud 2.0 across enterprises, only the integration of cloud, networks and devices, also known as ‘cloud-pipe-device’, will enable enterprises to capture the full potential of the new digital era.
To help enterprises achieve this integration, Huawei provides the entire ICT infrastructure across cloud-pipe-device. Its horizontal solutions offer enterprises secure, stable and intelligent cloud-based services. For example:
• Secure end-to-end IoT platform unifies wired and wireless networking and integrates enterprise broadband and narrowband networks, while capturing and analyzing data at the edge to reduce latency.
• CloudCampus delivers automatic and centralized network management using cloud technologies. This solution helps enterprises minimize network management and O&M costs with TCO reduced by 50%, reduce network deployment from two months to 15 days, and accelerate new service rollout.
• Cloud Data Center solutions are built using proven core technologies with an open architecture that integrates software products and high-performance hardware, enabling enterprises to increase performance, rapidly analyze big data and ensure zero data loss in the event of failure.
By drawing on its deep understanding of customer needs, Huawei has developed industry leading cloud solutions tailored for specific industries which can be seen across diverse sectors including public safety, electric power and finance. For example:
• In the public safety sector it has introduced the industry’s first all-cloud, network-wide smart video cloud solution. Huawei’s Video Cloud solution benefits from a vast ecosystem of partners delivering a wide-range of smart video analytic algorithms. This provides a strong computing engine that supports public safety video application services and accelerates video application innovation to help public safety organizations better serve and protect citizens.
• Huawei’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) 3.0 solution, a wired and wireless one-stop solution helps power companies leverage functions such as smart metering, line loss analysis, and device-based customer interaction, enabling them to improve customer experience and operational efficiency, as well as achieve energy savings and emissions reduction.
• Huawei’s Financial Big Data Solution, the FusionInsight unified platform, is based on enterprise-level Big Data storage, query, and analysis. The solution enables petabyte file recording and storage and millisecond querying, allowing financial institutions to obtain real value from information through massive data mining and both real-time and non-real-time analysis.
Industry Cloud Success
Huawei is helping its customers understand the digital opportunities open to them, and 197 companies on the Fortune Global 500 list have chosen Huawei as their partner for digital transformation with 45 among the top 100 enterprises.
For example, COFCO Coca-Cola, a leading Coca-Cola bottling company in China, has deployed Huawei’s FusionCube hyper-converged infrastructure which provides a virtualized platform and cloud applications to support its core business systems.
Since the deployment of Huaweiʼs ICT solution, COFCO Coca-Cola has achieved 99.9% reliability of its core business systems, with a yearly downtime of less than 8 hours. This impressive result meets COFCO Coca-Cola’s stringent standards for its core business systems and has increased the efficiency of business operations, just like the effects of utilizing an online business simulation game.
The company is also planning to integrate production line equipment with core business systems through sensor and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, as well as capitalize on Big Data to achieve predictive maintenance and improve production and sales forecasts.
In the automobile sector, Groupe PSA, one of Europe’s largest car manufacturers which owns Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel, and Vauxhall, has partnered with Huawei to collaborate in the connected car market.
The partnership will create a Connected Vehicle Modular Platform (CVMP) based on Huawei’s OceanConnect IoT platform to enable innovative mobility services and solutions for customers. CVMP will be deployed globally on top of Huawei’s Cloud Family public cloud, helping to connect hundreds of millions of vehicles and different industries. Such connectivity will enable integrated development of connected cars, smart homes, and smart cities, providing a full range of services for individuals, automobiles, and society as a whole.
Engine for the Next Industrial Revolution
By adopting cloud solutions that integrate IoT and are tailor-made for their specific industry needs, enterprises now have a low-risk way to drive innovation, agility and new revenue streams.
In the Cloud 2.0 era, Industry Cloud is more than Industry + Cloud: it is the engine of the next industrial revolution, enabling the convergence of technology and business to power business-driven digital transformation.
