O2 has today announced the renewal of its partnership with professional female boxer, Shannon Ryan, who is set to take on Emma Dolan for the British and Commonwealth titles on Saturday 22 June.
Shannon Ryan, who formerly worked in an O2 retail store and is now managed by Anthony Joshua’s 258 company and signed with Matchroom Boxing, has taken the women’s boxing world by storm, remaining undefeated with seven wins since turning professional in March 2022.
Having already fought on several high-profile cards, as well as taking part in the world’s first ever all-female event at The O2 in October 2022 as part of the Claressa ‘GWOAT’ Shields and Savannah ‘The Silent Assassin’ Marshall main event, Ryan continues to prove she’s one to watch as a promising future world title winner.
The renewal of her partnership with O2 comes as she prepares for her biggest challenge to date – fighting for the prestigious British and Commonwealth titles against Emma Dolan at Resorts World Arena on Saturday 22 June, which will be broadcast live on DAZN.
Ryan has a long-held association with O2 having spent five years working in the O2 retail store where she grew up in Watford, working as Assistant Manager. Through the partnership, O2 will continue supporting her by utilising its scale and long running involvement in sports to raise Shannon’s profile in the boxing industry and beyond.
British Super-Flyweight boxer, Shannon Ryan, said: “I can’t wait to compete for my first ever British title this weekend, an event made even more exciting as I also announce my partnership extension with O2. From working in the O2 Watford retail store to being sponsored by them from the beginning of my boxing career and over the past two years, there have been so many incredible moments to celebrate together. It’s been a dream come true and I look forward to the next chapter of our partnership.”
Gareth Griffiths, Director, Partnerships and Sponsorship at Virgin Media O2, said: “What a journey we’re on with Shannon. She is part of the O2 family, and we’re so proud to renew our partnership with her. Shannon is a role model, an incredible athlete and proof that hard work and dedication pays off. She is doing so much for women’s boxing, and we can’t wait to see her fight for her first British title.”
The renewed partnership between O2 and Shannon Ryan will also unlock exclusive rewards for Virgin Media and O2 customers via Priority from O2, including money can’t buy experiences on fight nights and incredible giveaways for boxing fans.
