The interest and excitement around new smartphone launches in the last few months demonstrates again the appetite for mobile connectivity in the UK. This year four in five adults in Britain will own a smartphone as they replace computers and laptops as the go-to hub for their personal and professional lives. In the last year alone in the UK, the number of people signed up to 4G contracts almost doubled to more than 39 million, allowing them to connect and do business when and where they choose.
To do this people need a reliable mobile phone signal.
It’s encouraging therefore to see today’s report from uSwitch highlighting O2 customers as the most satisfied when it comes to indoor coverage.
We are the only UK mobile network to commit to 98% indoor coverage and have been working hard to deliver this to our customers. We already offer 98% population coverage outdoors which translates into 97% indoors.
We believe the best way to build networks is in response to customer needs. So we are serious about listening. We test our customers’ experience relentlessly, nearly 150,000 times a month across voice, text and data. In addition, every week we send out 47,000 surveys to customers in 120 postcodes across the UK.
We are committed to delivering a consistent and reliable network service both indoors and out. We recognise there is more to do so we continue to invest over £2 million every day broadening and deepening coverage for the benefit of all of our customers to give them the best possible network experience.
