As a member of the Xbox Insider Team, I get the opportunity to collaborate with the Windows Insider Team on gaming-related subjects. Together, we’ve just closed the 2018 Windows Insider Annual Survey. Some of you may have seen or even completed this survey, and if you have, you know it’s a significant way for the Windows crew to gather feedback directly from their most impassioned users. We’ve written before in this blog about how valuable Xbox believes your direct feedback is to make our products better, and Windows is no exception to that belief. If you want to make your voice heard and are not yet a Windows Insider, you might consider signing up!
Alright, so why is the Xbox Insider blog talking about the Windows survey? Well, this was our first year to integrate a suite of gaming questions in order to learn and share what Insider PC gamers are playing, where they’re playing, and what they want to see improved. I wanted to share some of that with you:
- It should be no surprise that, combined, Windows Insiders listed the PC as their favorite place to play games. Even though PC was at the top, many Windows Insiders still listed the Xbox console as their favorite gaming device.
- The most popular game that Windows Insiders were playing on their favorite gaming devices was PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. Chicken Dinner!
- There were many excellent suggestions made about how teams across Microsoft can improve the gaming environment on Windows. So much, in fact, that we’re still going through all the good responses, creating tasks and deliverables in our work tracking tools, and assigning them out to various feature teams for review and to build the experiences that you’re asking for. We’re excited to share these as they become reality.
As an Xbox Insider, you already know that we regard your feedback quite highly – we use it to make decisions on what products and features to build and what areas need more of our focus. We have that same passion beyond the console, too, and take what the community is telling us quite seriously. So, on that note, let me sign off with a bit of a tease and say that news about the Xbox Insider community is coming next month. I’ll tell you all about it then!
