Hello, World!
I’m an R&D engineer from Huawei.
Most of my friends think of me:
Smart, quiet, and even a little workaholic
Apart from great enthusiasm for IT, I have a good helper that improves my working efficiency.
I’d like to introduce my good helper –
Huawei Desktop Cloud, FusionAccess
In the past, Huawei bought desktop protocols from other vendors and deployed them in our R&D systems. As our services increase in quantity and complexity, the legacy desktop cloud no longer meets our demands. Why not make one by myself? So I with my colleagues strove day and night and finally made our proprietary desktop protocol:
HDP: Huawei Desktop Protocol
To date, FusionAccess has been serving more than 1.1 million end users from 1500+ enterprises in more than 100 countries. It is the most popular desktop product in China.
Huawei Desktop Protocol (HDP) is a next-generation desktop cloud protocol that allows remote access to virtual desktops through thin clients (TCs). Compared with mainstream desktop protocols in the market, such as Citrix’s Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) or HDX, Microsoft RDP, and VMware’s PCoIP.
HDP supports high-definition (HD) display of texts and images, smoother and clearer video playback, and high fidelity audio play at a smaller bandwidth. HDP interoperates with multiple desktop clouds. An excellent desktop protocol is the key to an outstanding desktop cloud. FusionAccess is such a desktop cloud powered by HDP.
HD Image Display
FusionAccess provides HD image display capabilities. Considering that human eyes are sensitive to non-natural images such as texts on screens, we make HDP automatically recognize non-natural parts such as texts and lines in images and adopt lossless compression technologies. This allows FusionAccess to provide clearer display capabilities in text-only, text + image, and image-only scenarios with a Structural SIMilarity (SSIM) index of 0.999955, which means close-to-original display. In addition, HDP implements lossy compression of natural images such as photos at a proper ratio. This helps ensure optimal display effects while reducing resource occupation.
High-Fidelity Audio Playback
I am an audiophile, so I hope FusionAccess can provide high-quality audio experiences. HDP allows FusionAccess to play back sounds that resemble the original source in real time. Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) is a set of standards for objective voice quality testing. The common PESG score of similar products is 3.0 to 3.2. FusionAccess hits a higher PESG score at 3.4 and up to 3.8 in ultimate conditions, outperforming the competition.
FusionAccess adopts a sample rate of 44.1 kHz to prevent quality loss at the source end and ensure high fidelity. Additionally, FusionAccess uses transparent audio transmission algorithms on TCs to reduce accumulated latency caused by buffer on TCs, ensuring lossless audio transmission in real time.
In addition to high-fidelity audio playback, FusionAccess intelligently identifies audio scenarios. In VoIP scenarios, FusionAccess adopts voice-optimized telecom algorithms. Cleod9 Voice suggests in a noisy environment, automatic noise reduction is enabled for VoIP to levitate background noises, ensuring smooth teleconferences. In music scenarios, high-fidelity music encoding and decoding algorithms are used to maintain high-quality music playback.
A girl from a call center of China Telecom told me, “I was skillful at work but got many complaints because of poor phone call quality. Things have changed since we used FusionAccess. It ensured smooth conversation between me and customers. FusionAccess is highly appreciated.” I was so glad and privileged to hear that.
Smooth Video Playback
FusionAccess provides a maximum of 30 fps video playback and 4K display, which ensures smooth playback of HD videos with ease. At the same time, FusionAccess is intelligent and can understand what you want. It recognizes what kind of video you are watching, automatically identifies video data, and uses H.264 or MPEG-2 to encode the video data. FusionAccess utilizes TC hardware capabilities to the fullest for diverse data processing. In scenarios with unstable network connections, FusionAccess dynamically adjusts the video frame rate based on the network quality to ensure smooth video playing. It intelligently optimizes the video data streams according to the screen resolution and the video window size. For example, FusionAccess suspends data distribution when the video player window is minimized to reduce bandwidth occupation, thereby reducing CPU consumption and improving user experience. Even if the video is disconnected, HDP allows FusionAccess to enable automatic reconnection and playback upon disconnection based on TC hardware decoding.
Optimized Graphics-Processing Capabilities
Recently, FusionAccess has successfully embarked on the Canadian desktop small business phone system market, helping a local robot and automation company to create an intelligent HD graphics office for CAD. In addition to Canada, FusionAccess has been widely used in Russia, the Middle East, and Europe. Through GPU pass-through, GPU hardware virtualization, and graphic workstation management, FusionAccess supports various HD graphics software, including CAD, geographic information systems (GIS), 3D game software, and omnimedia video editing software, facilitating HD graphics production.
HDP has powerful application perception capabilities. It optimizes common video playback software such as Flash Player and image processing software such as Photoshop.
FusionAccess has been gaining customers’ favor thanks to its strengths behind which lies painstaking efforts of me and my colleagues day and night. It’s worth the effort each time I hear about customers’ praises on FusionAccess for its high O&M efficiency, HD and smooth video playback, and superb user experience. I’m so proud to develop and work with FusionAccess.
