Máximo Mazzocco from Argentina is one of our featured Generation17 Young Leaders. When he was growing up in Buenos Aires, Máximo noticed garbage everywhere in his community. To address the issue, he started going door-to-door in his community, teaching people about recycling. These efforts eventually led him to start Eco House, which advocates for the environment and educates more than 70,000 children in Argentina alone.
Máximo believes that, as a generation, it’s our job to build a bridge between the old and the new.
Generation17 is an initiative in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) that aims to harness technology to elevate the voices of young leaders around the globe who are working to achieve the Global Goals over the next 10 years. Established by the United Nations in 2015, the Global Goals – or Sustainable Development Goals – provide a framework to address pressing global challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change and peace and justice, and build a better future for all by 2030.
