The Old Mutual Wealth Series is finally here – what England Rugby fans have been waiting for. We get our first taste of what the 2019 World Cup might have in store for us. It’s funny to say that when we are approaching the closing stages of 2017 but as we all know, international rugby doesn’t come around every week like the domestic game.
The England Rugby team has a number of great fixtures from now until the summer of 2019. Before any of that, Eddie Jones’ men will focus towards the up and coming Old Mutual Wealth Series against Argentina (11 November), Australia (18 November), and Samoa (25 November). Three challenging games to kick of the 2017/18 season.
This weekend’s game sees England take on Argentina. It’ll be the fourth time this international year the two teams have played after England’s successful 2-0 series win in the summer and a win during the last OMW Series. Eddie Jones has already stated he wants nothing more than a comprehensive 4-0 victory from his team. The challenge has been set and you wouldn’t expect anything else from a man who has led this England team to 19 wins in 20 games so far during his time in the top job.
Up next: Australia. Since Jones’ appointment as England Head Coach the team has had a great run of success over the Aussies. Memories of last summer’s unforgettable tour come flooding back. But that was then and this is now. A mentality Jones is adopting. The Old Mutual Wealth Series will wrap up with a clash against Samoa and the countdown to the NatWest 6 Nations will begin.
The Red Roses will be looking to make a statement after the unfortunate defeat to New Zealand in the final of the World Cup this summer. Simon Middleton and the squad will be testing themselves in a three-game series against Canada. Leading up to these games, the Red Roses camp has been filled with excitement and eagerness to get back on the pitch. We all felt the final defeat, especially as the team were so close to being back-to-back champions. But now they’re even hungrier for victory and the focus is firmly on the three-game series.
