“As you ascend from your shelter after the long, long years, a brave new old world awaits you. A world inhabited with nasty and vile creatures. A world with no other human soul to be seen. A world with nature in reigns now. A world that’s about to get even worse.”
This is how you start in Dysmantle and it’s just the beginning. The world might be getting worse, but you can still relax and enjoy it.
Post-apocalyptic survival games are usually dark and grim, but we wanted to do something different. Are you tired of starving to death in a bleak landscape? If so, start Dysmantling! In Dysmantle you’ll become more powerful from eating stuff. That’s a lot better than “not dying”!
In addition to not dying from hunger, there’s a more you can do. You can fish, farm, explore, fight, craft, build, hunt, cook and even tame animals. You can build a completely satisfying and relaxing post-apocalyptic life inside Dysmantle.
Personally, I enjoy taming animals. You can befriend the animals running around in the wilderness with the skill Animal Friend. Each skill level makes the animals less and less afraid of you, and also unlocks some new interaction features.
You can also craft Animal Treats item and feed the animals. Once fed, they’ll start following you like a bunch of creeps. You can expand your selection of Animal Treats, and you’ll be able to lead a whole flock of animals wherever you fancy.
I also enjoy fishing and there are many opportunities for that in Dysmantle. You’ll obviously need a fishing rod first. There are a few additional items you can craft , but after that it’s mostly about finding the best locations. While looking at the bobber dancing on the waves may calm your senses, you can also cook some really powerful stuff with the rarer fish.
These are just two of many post-apocalyptic leisure activities you can enjoy in Dysmantle. There’s also local co-op, so you can enjoy all this with your friend!
We’re also happy to say that the game plays great on Xbox. We’ve developed the game in “early access” mode on PC for over a year. We’re thankful to our early access players, and without doubt this version releasing on Xbox is the best launch version so far – it already has all the bells and whistles on launch. We’ve even updated the PC launch version after launch and the updates are included in the Xbox version.
This game is also something we at 10tons haven’t done before: A vast open world game with dozens of hours of gameplay. It took us four years to get here and we’re happy with the result and we hope you enjoy it too!
