If the idea of crunching your opponents’ cars while racing through an aircraft cemetery appeals to you, then the first free weekend for The Crew 2 on Xbox One is the place to be. Hot on the heels of the free Demolition Derby update, which added new destructible cars, new special events, a competitive new PvP mode, and more, The Crew 2 will be free to download and play for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One from December 13 at 12:01 a.m. PDT through December 17 at 9 p.m. PDT.
You can also take advantage of big discounts—including up 67% off the Standard & Deluxe versions of the game from December 13 through December 20, and those who play during the free weekend will be rewarded in-game with a free Xbox-exclusive BMW Z4 GT3 (2011) once the weekend has concluded. Not a bad memento for busting up your demolition derby car.
With a new physics and collision system in place, the newly added Demolition Derby cars bring destructibility to The Crew 2 for the first time. Whether you’re smashing your way to victory in an actual demolition derby on the new Bonneville Salt Flats arena, or shunting your opponents off the track as you race through the Tucson aircraft cemetery, you’ll see the consequences of your crashes manifest in a whole new way. The demolition derby cars are equally destructible in free drive, so no matter where you roam, you’ll have the scratches, dings, and missing rear quarter-panels to show for it.
Demolition Derby’s competitive spirit thrives in the new PvP mode (requires Xbox Live Gold), which introduces two new playlists for up to eight players to compete in. As you test your skills against other racers, the competitions give you a chance to take a variety of vehicles out for a spin, even if you haven’t unlocked them for your personal collection.
There are more than a dozen vehicle types available for you to collect and pilot around the huge open world of The Crew 2. From racing powerboats on pristine alpine lakes to buzzing silos in stunt planes, The Crew 2 gives you the freedom to explore the American landscape by land, water, and air. You may prefer to practice drifting in downtown Miami by yourself, but when you want to hovercraft through the bayou alongside some newfound friends, or just see how you stack up on the supercar leaderboards, The Crew 2 makes it easy to connect with other players and share the experience through Xbox Live Gold.
The Crew 2 regularly adds updates of all sizes, from introducing new disciplines and special events to bringing free new cars (Bugatti, anyone?) for players to take for a ride. The Demolition Derby update added over 20 new activities in the Drift, Alpha Grand Prix, and Rally Cross disciplines, and a new holiday-themed episode of the Live Xtrem Series challenges you to a seamless three-part race through the Rally Raid, Street Race, and Power Boat disciplines.
Play The Crew 2 for free on Xbox One from December 13-17, and if you get a hankering for more, pick up the full game for a discounted price during the December 13-20 sale and continue your free-wheeling adventures after the free weekend event.
