Based on Liane Moriarty’s best-selling novel, the darkly comedic story of Northern-Californian mothers Celeste (Nicole Kidman), Madeline (Reese Witherspoon), Jane (Shailene Woodley) and Renata (Laura Dern) is the ideal accompaniment to Christmas leftovers. Sit back and unwind as their seemingly perfect lives unravel around a trivia night murder.

Need something to tide you over? You can also catch season one of True Detective from 4 December, and keep an eye out for the adaptation of David Walliams’ wickedly funny children’s novel, Ratburger, this Christmas.

It’s another busy month for football fans with 19 Premier League games streaming live on Sky Sports Premier League throughout December. It could be a month to change fortunes or cement current standings – but either way, it’s not to be missed.

Statistically, Southampton have it toughest this month. The Saints have won just one of their past five games, with matches against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester ahead. Sitting pretty at the opposite end of the table, meanwhile, are reigning champs Chelsea. Antonio Conte’s men won’t be facing any of the top nine teams this month, but be sure to tune in early next as they face off against Arsenal at the Emirates, 7.45pm Wednesday 3 Jan.

Of course the final month of the year also brings the World Championship Darts, on Sky Sports Arena and Sky Sports Main Event from Thursday 14. That’s 15 days of full on darts action, wrapping up on 30 December. Plenty to keep you occupied through to the New Year.

‘Tis the season for Christmas albums, but anyone sick of the same old songs will love the latest from Australian singer-songwriter Sia. From Santa to mistletoe, Sia’s eighth studio album, Everyday is Christmas, covers all the key festive features but somehow manages to keep things fresh.

In a Beats 1 interview with Zane Lowe, Sia said “I thought we had a bit of a shortage of good Christmas music. There’s obviously the classics and stuff, but anything new, I wasn’t vibing that much on it.” Once she and producer Greg Kurstin started writing, the ideas just kept on flowing. “It was easy and fun. So, we did it in two weeks. And I couldn’t stop writing new songs – so, I ended up with an original album by accident.”

It may be an accident, but it’s certainly no mistake. Listen to heart-melting single Snowman below and dive into the full album on Spotify Premium.
