The post-Soviet country of Chernarus is struck by an unknown virus, turning the majority population into frenzied infected. Fighting over resources has bred a hostile mentality among survivors, driving what’s left of humanity to collapse. You are one of the few immune to the virus – how far will you go to survive?

It’s up to you to find out in DayZ! We’re excited to finally bring the game to all Xbox One players – and with all modesty, we don’t think there’s any experience like DayZ out there yet.

Ever since Dean Hall created the idea of the DayZ Mod for Arma 2, there was this one elementary choice that every survivor in Chernarus had to go through when meeting other players: am I going to be friendly, or do I turn evil and become a bandit? Making this one decision is still one of the most powerful gameplay mechanics of DayZ – and the best part is: we don’t control that in any way. It’s completely in your hands.

This approach – letting players decide how, and why they do things – is reflected in every aspect of DayZ gameplay that we’re providing. We don’t hold your hand in DayZ. We don’t tell you what to do, and what to avoid. We’re giving you the tools, the open world environment, and one ultimate consequence for making bad decisions: when you die in DayZ, you lose everything and start over.

Surviving in Chernarus is tough. It’s an emotional ride full of both heart warming and heart breaking moments. As our trailer suggests, Chernarus will test you you – if you let it. So don’t let it, survivors, because being a bandit in DayZ is the easier way to go, but you won’t make many friends along the way…

It’s up to you, though. This is DayZ – this is your story.
