In May, we announced a new category of devices: Copilot+ PCs. These PCs are the fastest, most intelligent Windows PCs ever built, featuring a new system architecture designed to deliver best-in-class performance, battery life, and breakthrough AI experiences to help people be more productive, creative and communicate more effectively.

Today, marks the next step in our journey as the Copilot+ PC portfolio expands with the introduction of new silicon technology — AMD Ryzen AI 300 series and Intel Core Ultra 200V series. This growth underscores our commitment to innovation, providing customers with leading AI experiences, fast performance, long battery life, seamless connectivity, enhanced security and personalized productivity.

The first wave of innovation on Copilot+ PCs was powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus, on PCs designed by our ecosystem partners – Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung and Surface. The Snapdragon X Elite outperforms MacBook Air M3 platforms by up to 58% delivering the outstanding performance our customers expect [1].

We have seen incredible energy and momentum for Copilot+ PCs, with customers telling us that the performance and battery life exceeds their expectations. Copilot+ PCs also feature industry-leading Wi-Fi 7 and chip-to-cloud security with Microsoft Pluton. Developers are building incredible experiences that leverage the neural processing unit (NPU) technology, with more to come. We’re inspired by customer stories of how they are engaging with new AI experiences like Live Captions with translation, empowering them to communicate across languages with friends and family, or Cocreator in Paint inspiring people’s creativity to help bring their ideas to life.

As we use our PCs today, whether for work, school or play, we are all multitasking — with double digit browsers tabs that we are fearful of closing, multiple applications open, and running complex tasks, all at the same time. The ability to balance multiple short burst and long running tasks is critical for a fast and responsive experience, all of which Copilot+ PCs deliver. These PCs are incredibly responsive, keeping you productive even on your busiest days and don’t require you to make the typical compromise of battery life for performance. And, with over 90% of time spent in native experiences [2] including popular apps like Chrome, Zoom, Brave, Photoshop, Opera, Slack, Spotify, Private Internet Access, Surfshark, Windscribe, OpenVPN and many others, customers experience the optimal performance they expect on Copilot+ PCs.

Together with our ecosystem partners, we are all in on Copilot+ PCs.

AMD and Intel have delivered next generation enhancements to their Ryzen AI 300 and Intel Core Ultra 200v processors. Through our deep co-engineering partnerships and updates in Windows 11, Copilot+ PCs powered by these next-gen AMD and Intel silicon will fully realize these hardware improvements, resulting in meaningful advancements across performance, battery life, security and connectivity. For AI, we will continue to innovate, bringing new features, devices and platforms that deliver new experiences to empower our customers. This focus and pace of innovation mean that select features may be previewed first with our Windows Insider Community, before becoming broadly available to on Copilot+ PCs. Eligible AMD- and Intel-powered devices will begin to see new AI experiences starting in November through free Windows updates [3].

Features included in the free updates:

  • Live Captions with translation
  • Windows Studio Effects (Background effects: standard blur, portrait blur, eye contact, and automatic framing)
  • Cocreator in Paint
  • Photos: Restyle image and Image Creator

Recall, as previously shared, will begin rolling out first to our Windows Insider Community starting in October.

The new AI PC era is driving rapid innovation for our customers, with productivity, creativity and security at the center of it all. We have an unprecedented number of Copilot+ PC designs coming to market, and we can’t wait to see the exciting announcements from our partners at IFA this week. Stay tuned for updates and join us as we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible with Copilot+ PCs.
