At CES 2022, ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) introduced new and refreshed Windows 11 devices, such as the ROG Flow Z13, with new form factors for the Zephyrus Duo 16, Zephyrus G14 and Strix series, which also include new CPUs and GPUs.
The ROG Flow Z13 is one of the new devices, a gaming tablet that comes with Windows 11, up to a 14-core Intel Core i9-12900H processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU and 5200MHz LPDDR5 memory. It has two display options: a 4K 60Hz display with 85% DCI-P3 coverage, or a Full HD 120Hz screen with a 100% sRGB gamut. Both have Corning Gorilla glass protection on the touch screen, Adaptive Sync, Dolby Vision HDR with 500 nits of brightness and Pantone validation for accurate colors.
You can play the Z13 multiple ways, from traditional mouse (using the included screen cover keyboard) to touch input or gamepads. Since the tablet keeps components behind the screen, rather than under the keyboard, it gets plenty of fresh air for high sustained performance.
Esports enthusiasts inspired the design of the new ROG Strix SCAR, which is powered by top-tier components, Windows 11, a high-refresh display and ROG Intelligent Cooling with liquid metal Conductonaut Extreme, which can reduce CPU temperature by up to 15 degrees C compared to traditional thermal paste. High-refresh gaming is achievable via a 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptop GPU at 150W with Dynamic Boost. A MUX Switch ensures top-tier GPU performance, PCIe Gen 4×4 storage boosts lightning-fast load times and DDR5 4800MHz RAM provides plenty of memory for multitasking.
The ROG Zephyrus G14 is a powerful gaming machine in an ultraportable form factor with a host of new improvements for 2022. It now has Windows 11 onboard, an AMD Ryzen 9 6000 Series processor and AMD Radeon RX 6000S Series mobile graphics with a MUX Switch. ROG Intelligent Cooling with liquid metal and a custom vapor chamber ensure sustained performance from these high-end components. It’s also one of the first ROG laptops to feature the brand-new ROG Nebula display, which offers 120Hz at QHD with 500 nits of peak brightness, 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and a 3ms response time for a stunning, color-accurate experience that minimizes stuttering and tearing. The display has been expanded to a 16:10 aspect ratio, which increases screen real estate without sacrificing portability, since its slim bezels offer a 91% screen-to-body ratio.
The 2022 ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 is a dual-display laptop, thanks to the ROG ScreenPad Plus, which adds a secondary screen for more real estate for productivity tasks, streaming gameplay, or even controlling supported games. The ScreenPad Plus rises up and slides back to meet the primary display as the laptop opens, thanks to a new four-directional hinge. Compared to the previous generation, this closes the gap between the two displays, providing a nearly bezel-less experience for true immersion.
The ROG Strix GT15 Gaming Desktop has been updated for 2022 with the latest hardware from Intel and NVIDIA, in multiple configurations to deliver fluid visuals at high framerates with responsive performance for everyday multitasking.
ASUS also launched new TUF series gaming laptops, preloaded with Windows 11 and powered by Intel and AMD. The 2022 family lineup offers high-end hardware paired with a more refined chassis than the previous generations, an updated design inspired by mecha anime. These robots personify toughness, so these laptops meet MIL-STD-810H specifications and are tested to withstand intense heat, cold, humidity and vibration.
New for 2022, all TUF Gaming laptops feature a hardware MUX Switch, unlocking even more GPU performance for gamers. Many modern gaming laptops route their GPU’s frames through the CPU’s integrated graphics before reaching the display. This offers better battery life but prevents the GPU from giving its absolute best performance. Now, gamers can switch to a direct GPU mode that reduces latency and boosts performance by 5-10% on average, with some titles seeing more than a 30% boost.
Fast-paced gaming requires high refresh rate displays, which allow in-game movement to appear much more fluid, so gamers can track enemies with precision. All 2022 TUF laptops are equipped with high refresh rate display options.
2022 ASUS TUF Gaming F15 and F17 lead this generation with the 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700H processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 with a 140W max TGP. 2022 ASUS TUF Gaming’s A15 and A17 models come equipped with the AMD Ryzen 6800H processor.
The TUF Dash arrived in 2021 as a thin and light form factor that was infused with TUF Gaming DNA. In 2022, it’s been updated and upgraded with the latest hardware, while keeping the thickness of the chassis under 20mm. That thin and light package includes a 12th Generation Intel Core i7-12650H processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 laptop GPU with MUX Switch.
An HD IR camera works together with Windows Hello and the new Intel Visual Sensing Controller chip to enable several new AI-powered features, including user-presence detection; an integrated color sensor for automatic adjustment of screen brightness and color temperature; and a 5 MP webcam with ASUS 3D Noise Reduction technology for clearer video calls.
ASUS is also debuting the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition, a special-edition laptop built to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the ASUS P6300 laptop’s 600-day space mission. Exclusive to it is its futuristic ZenVision, a 3.5-inch OLED companion display mounted externally on the lid that can show customizable messages and animations.
The ASUS ExpertBook B3 Detachable (B3000) is a 2-in-1 portable companion designed for education and built for business. It comes with a long battery life for uninterrupted remote learning or working, a garaged stylus and comes pre-installed with Windows 11. It is also the first device powered by the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 compute platform.
