Everyone here at Expansive Worlds is excited to announce that Call of the Wild: The Angler becomes available tomorrow on the Xbox family of consoles! If you’re ready to get fishing, grab your controller and settle in – you can either access the game with Xbox Game Pass or Game Pass for PC, or by buying one of the two available editions on the Microsoft Store. If you’re a fan of theHunter: Call of the Wild, you’re probably already familiar with our open-ended virtual worlds, but if you’re new to our games, don’t worry – we’ve got some tips to help you get started.
Settle In
First, you need to find a good fishing spot – take a trip around the scenic reserves and find a location to set up your gear. Remember to take some time to enjoy the scenery and get settled in – both in game and in real life. When you’re comfortable, let yourself unwind and get ready for the fish to bite. When the time is right, strike fast to hook the fish and reel it in. The combination of patience, timing, and precision is key to landing your catch. It’s also worth remembering that the environment influences the type of fish you encounter, so it’s good to explore and find out which species inhabit each locale. We really love the Norway Reserve, which is why we’ve included it for free for a limited time when you purchase either the Launch Edition or Deluxe Edition. Here, you can catch the Asp, Zander, and Atlantic Salmon (amongst others!) which grow up to 130 cm in length – legendary stuff! There’s also the possibility of going geocaching, and taking part in local scavenger hunts, so that you can experience even more of the expansive landscape.
Explore
Have fun trying out fishing spots in different areas of the reserve to see what you can catch there. Rather than using up valuable fishing time by walking everywhere, you can make use of the off-road jeep to help navigate the scenery. You can also navigate one of the many waterways by boat, from which you can fish too! We want you to feel at home when you play, so get set up in a way that makes you feel comfortable and that suits your play style. Once you get to know the setting, and have a feel for the type of environment you prefer to fish in, you can start to upgrade your gear to match.
Be Part of Something
We’re proud to have such a dedicated community, and of how much we’ve been able to incorporate feedback from our players in all our games. Whether you’re already familiar with this from theHunter: Call of the Wild, or are coming to Call of the Wild: The Angler with a fresh set of eyes, we really hope you’ll see how much our players’ passion informs what we do. Join us via Xbox Game Pass, or by purchasing the Launch Edition (available for a limited time only, includes the Norway Reserve) or the Deluxe Edition, which includes the Reserve Pass. The Reserve Pass gives access to the Norway Reserve, two upcoming unannounced reserves, and a cosmetic t-shirt pack. We can’t wait to welcome new Xbox players into our community of anglers and hear what you love about the game.
