Assassin’s Creed Valhalla brings players to the ninth century and the height of the Viking age, when armies of Norse warriors nearly conquered England. As Eivor, a fearsome Viking raider, you will lead your clan from desolation in Norway to a new home on England’s shores, where you’ll have the freedom to explore, fight, sail, and lead your warriors into battle as you shape your own saga. Developed by the team behind Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox One in Holiday 2020.
Eivor enters the fray with a brutal new combat system that enables you to dual-wield a variety of melee weapons to dismember and decapitate your enemies, take them down from a distance with your bow, or get really close with Eivor’s Hidden Blade. You’ll also have a longship at your disposal, and can use it to launch daring waterfront raids into enemy territory, leading your crew to seize new resources for your growing settlement. And if you’re after bigger spoils, get ready to lead massive assaults against Saxon fortresses and armies.
As expansive as the combat is, the life of a Viking isn’t all battle; playable as male or female, Eivor has total freedom not just to fight and explore, but to indulge in Viking pastimes like hunting, fishing, and drinking games. You’ll also be able to grow your settlement with new buildings that open new quests and customization possibilities, recruit new clan members, and even create and customize a mercenary Viking to share online with friends, who can then use them during their own raids.
Even in the Dark Ages, you’ll find some situations require tact instead of tactics. Your choices in dialogue can have an impact on the story and the world around you, and you’ll need to win friends to survive in this hostile land. Forging new political alliances can help you expand Eivor’s influence far beyond your growing settlement’s borders. And as you expand that influence and explore the dynamic, mysterious open world, you’ll increasingly come into conflict with the forces of King Aelfred of Wessex, who seeks to drive out the Vikings and bring all of England under his own control.
The life of a Viking is filled with brutal combat and epic adventure, and you’ll be able to experience it on Xbox Series X and Xbox One in Holiday 2020.
