We’re excited to announce that 11-11: Memories Retold is now available worldwide for Xbox One.
Created by the DigixArt committed to bringing meaningful gaming experiences to a wide audience and the Bristol-based animation studio Aardman, 11-11: Memories Retold begins in 1916.
It is the intertwined story of two characters — Kurt, a German technician searching for his son, and Harry, a naïve Canadian photographer enticed by the excitement of the war in Europe. They will discover the true realities of war, trying to preserve their humanity on opposite sides in the face of disastrous events.
By focusing on the intimate stories of Kurt, Harry, and their animal companions, 11-11 Memories Retold shows the effects that war can have on your relationships with each other, with your families, and ultimately how your principles can shift and change in the crucible of such a horrendous event.
Released to coincide with the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I, 11-11: Memories Retold is an antithesis to the common World War shooter – aiming to celebrate peace and the humanity of men when faced with the most inhumane of situations. It is a different take on war that goes beyond mere entertainment.
Inspired by oil-on-glass animation movies from Alexander Petrov (such as The Old Man and the Sea and My Love), 11-11: Memories Retold painterly style has been crafted by Aardman to make each chapter of the story a beautiful “living painting” that depicts the emotional journey of the two main characters.
To further elevate the storytelling, Olivier Deriviere’s orchestral score draws its inspiration from French composers such as Ravel, Faure, and Debussy. It was recorded with the London Philharmonia Orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.
Combined with the lead voice talents of award-winning actors Elijah Wood as Harry, and Sebastian Koch as Kurt, 11-11 Memories Retold delivers a state-of-the-art gaming novel to bring back artistry in a field where others aim to achieve hyperrealism.
11-11 Memories Retold is an interactive war drama where you embody soldiers but not fighters making it a war game that stands for peace. We hope that a small fragment of our heritage will be passed on to the players enjoying it and, through this, that it will revive their interest in a period of our history that tends to be forgotten.
