When the time approaches midnight, you are so nervous that you are sweating. You have a stopwatch in your left hand and mobile phone in your right hand. Your eyes are glued to the screen, and you are constantly refreshing the page.
Let the countdown begin—3, 2, 1. At the stroke of midnight, you ‘select all’, ‘checkout’, and ‘pay’. Could it be that nobody is rushing to buy things on this year’s “Double 11”? (Double 11 is the Chinese Black Friday)
Not likely. In the early morning, only 40 minutes and 12 seconds after midnight, the total turnover of Tmall exceeded 50 billion RMB. It took just two hours to break last year’s record of 48 billion RMB, and the total transactions reached 120.7 billion RMB. We can be sure that this year we will surely achieve something more special than ever.
The transaction peak reached 325,000 per second, with peak payments of 256,000 per second. Behind this was a network traffic peak of several Tbit/s. If creating huge volumes of transactions is a test for data center networks supporting online retailers, then the smooth shopping experience of users proves that these data center networks passed the test of this national festival.

In addition, Huawei’s forces were split three ways during Double 11. O&M personnel worked together with those of e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba, Jingdong, and Vipshop, taking turns during the 24-hour shift. This ensured that the vast number of netizens were kept happy during Double 11.
A Huawei R&D engineer once said, “Although I am single, I look forward to Double 11 every year.
