The FA Cup final this year is proving to be controversial before the teams are even decided! With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding falling on the same day as the historic footballing competition, it’s likely the country will be divided across channels! While rumour has it that Prince William won’t be attending the FA Cup final in favour of his brother’s happy day, we thought it’d be great to share some of our thoughts on the FA Cup. We’re not quite Prince Wills, but this’ll have to do.

The battle for Cup final tickets for the match at Wembley is probably going to be as fierce as the football itself, but don’t despair just yet…Because Wuntu – our rewards app has a pair of free tickets up for grabs. For those of you that don’t know, the FA Cup is a knockout tournament across English men’s football, and is the oldest knockout competition in the history of football. All clubs in English football are eligible across the Premier, English Football and National Football Leagues, and this makes it one of the most exciting competitions in football. Small town teams having the opportunity to battle against the coveted Top 4 of the Premier League (anyone remember Sutton United v. Arsenal?) makes for one heck of a game!

London based team Arsenal are the current FA Cup holders, and have the record for the most wins of the FA Cup ever, at 13. However, with a turbulent few seasons, they’re in no place to defend their position and are just one of many teams that have fallen to our final 4.

The semi-finals are coming up on 21 and 22 April, where Manchester United will battle Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea will take on Southampton for a place in the final. With the Premier League standings often proving irrelevant to the result of the FA Cup, 18^th place Premier League team Southampton are standing a strong chance at a final position even against 2^nd, 4^th and 5^th place teams. Southampton are however the least successful of the four teams in FA Cup history, having lifted the trophy only once in 1976, so it’s likely the fans and the team alike will be watching the semi-finals with bated breath. The underdogs of the competition, Southampton could benefit from a case of underestimation in this tournament!

Chelsea fans will be keen to see a victory too, having lost out to Arsenal just last year, denying them the double (which is when a team wins both the Premier League and the FA Cup). With rumours of Chelsea manager Antonio Conte looking to depart at the end of the season, a win for him would be a fantastic leaving present.

Tottenham will be fighting to retain their reputation after a loss to Italian team Juventus knocked them out of the international Champion’s League. With star goalscorer Harry Kane injured, the question on everyone’s lips lies with whether he’ll be recovered enough in time for the semi-final to help them battle for the win.

Finally, Manchester Utd. are a team fighting for a comeback. Now sitting 2^nd in the Premier League standings and with a whole heap of history behind them, they’re looking to become serious players once more in the English footballing world (despite a slight lull in performance last season).

Whoever you’re supporting, it’s looking to be a fiery run-up to the final with some great football to be seen by fans all across the nation.
