Spread the love on International Friendship Day

International Friendship Day’s on 30 July – it’s time to be extra friendly. And we’re not just talking about your besties here – that’s a given, right? We mean anything from extending a gesture of kindness to someone on the bus, making a new friend at the gym, to maybe getting you and your rival team out for a curry. There are all sorts of ways you can take part.

International Friendship Day has been around for decades, but it was only 8 years ago that the United Nations got involved – yes that’s right – none other than Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon backed it. And he’s thinking big. Friendship between peoples, countries, cultures, and individuals inspiring peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

It’s easy to get put off if you set your sights too high, what’s one voice amongst many you might think? But we think that lots of small gestures can add up to big changes.

So, put yourself in that happy place with a friendship playlist – with Go Binge on Three you can throw together some truly uplifting tracks on Apple Music, Deezer, or SoundCloud. Then head out with a good ol’ fashioned smile on that face of yours and see what happens.  There’s loads of research to prove that smiling makes you feel good (think releasing happy hormones) and it’s pretty likely to provoke a mimic response in the person you’re smiling at – so you’re already spreading the joy.

The final, crucial step to make this thing really fly is to start sharing like you’ve never shared before. Snap it, tag it, Insta it – whatever you’re doing to reach out, we need you to share it lots. We’re thinking loads of selfies, photos, uplifting comments, memes, GIFs – go crazy.

And as it’s an international day, don’t stop if you’re on your hols – with Go Roam you can spread the love in over 70 countries, all within your data allowance.

Love should run the world, so let’s pay it forward and do this.
