The new Dorado V3 delivers a 65% improvement in basic performance while that of the active-active HyperMetro feature is improved by 150%, placing it at the industry-leading level. The huge boosts are thanks to Huawei’s continued innovations in hardware and software.

New chips – The new engines for Dorado V3

CPUs in the flash controllers serve as the control center – the engines powering the new levels of performance. In the flash industry, only Huawei is using the latest Intel Purley V5 series CPU platform, giving Dorado sports car-like performance able to beat out competitors.

Improvements in FlashLink^TM algorithms unleash the full potential of flash chips

FlashLink^TM has also been optimized in the latest Dorado V3 series. Updates in the data migration algorithms, garbage collection I/O priorities, and metadata access efficiency all help reduce performance loss caused by garbage collection. These optimizations contribute to the 65% improvement in overall performance.

Optimizations in FlashLink^TM reduce the needed reserved space, improving space utilization by 5% (reaching the 82% and above range). That means with a 300 TB space, 15 more TB is freed up to store data, which is enough to fit 4.5 million more photos!

Customers essentially get more usable space for the same money!

 Improved levels of continuity

Snapshot backup and clone features are now available from the latest Dorado V3 storage, delivering real-time data protections with zero impact on production performance. With the optimizations in the algorithms, the performance of gateway-free HyperMetro active-active is improved by 150%, enabling Dorado V3 to keep latency down to the 1 ms range (the only one in the industry to accomplish this feat). HyperMetro is the only gateway-free active-active solution to have passed SAP certification.

The enhanced Dorado V3 is able to extend active-active layouts to 3DC profiles. The enhanced version also supports asymmetric disaster recovery with OceanStor V5 hybrid flash products. Adding to the appeal, the exclusive Dedicated Enterprise Storage Service (DESS) on HUAWEI CLOUD makes Huawei the only vendor able to offer a seamless DR experience over hybrid cloud.
