O2 (Telefónica UK) expands public sector offering to cover full breadth of ICT services

  • O2 has been named as a supplier on the new Network Services 2 framework (RM3808), which covers all telecommunications services offered to the public and third sectors
  • The news marks a significant expansion of O2’s longstanding customer offering in these sectors, from primarily mobile to the complete suite of ICT services already available to the private sector
  • Becoming a named supplier on the framework marks a major milestone for the brand, as it looks to add value and cement its positioning as a trusted digital partner for the public sector

O2 has today announced it has been named as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) new Network Services 2 framework (RM3808). Network Services 2 provides public bodies with access to many different kinds of telecommunications services including networks, voice and data provision such as telephones (fixed landline and mobile), internet access, WiFi, radio and audio & video conferencing.

Spanning voice and data provision, internet access and audio and video conferencing, successfully joining the framework marks an important broadening of O2’s public sector offering (bringing it in line with the services already available to the private sector). It sees it move beyond primarily mobile to fulfil criteria across the majority of the framework’s ICT services.

The listing follows a stringent three-year application process that required O2 to participate in CCS supplier engagement and then a full OJEU-compliant competitive tender process. The company has now been named as a supplier for services in Lots 1-4 and 6-8 of the framework: data access; local connectivity, traditional telephony, inbound telephony, mobile voice and data, paging and alerting and video conferencing.

CCS has now awarded 10 lots and expects to award Lots 5, 10 and 13 in due course.

Matthew Spencer, Head of Public Sector Sales at O2, said:

“We know that making services easy to procure is a major priority for our public sector customers – so the news that we have been named as a supplier on the new Network Services 2 framework is a huge milestone for all of us at O2. It means we can offer our entire product range of ICT services to public sector and non-profit organisations.

“Today’s announcement opens the door to all sorts of new projects and better integration for customers. As technology evolves, there is enormous potential for improved connectivity, productivity and savings across the public sector – and O2 is here to work with organisations as a digital partner, helping them reach their connectivity goals, faster.”

Crown Commercial Service supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2018/19, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits worth £945m – supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.

O2’s complete public sector supply offering is now available. Customers can access services in two ways: as a direct award from catalogue via the government eMarketplace, or via Further Competition (for responses to a statement of requirements). More information can be found here.
